- BOYS BASKETBALL: No. 4 Bearcats Hold On For Win Over Silver Hawks

Kearney's boys basketball team had a nine-point lead heading into the final quarter, but managed to hold off a late Lincoln Southwest rally.
Despite missing a one-and-one chance, the No. 4 Bearcats held on for a 60-58 win over the Silver Hawks at Southwest High School.
Southwest had trimmed the deficit down to 60-57 with less than a minute left. Brayton Christsenen was fouled on a three-point attempt, but converted on only one of three free-throws.
While Kearney missed the front-end of a one-and-one, Southwest had one final chance with just seconds left. The Silver Hawks couldn't get a shot off and time ran out.
Kearney (12-4) led 16-15 after the first quarter and outscored Southwest 19-13 to take a 35-28 halftime advantage. Seth Stroh led the Bearcats in the win with 17 points, while Liberty commit Shiloh Robinson finished with 14.
Southwest (6-10) was led by Mayuom Buom's 18 points, while Creighton baseball commit Cam Frederick added 15 points and TaeVyn Grixby finished with 14 points in the loss.
SOUTHWEST GIRLS 62, KEARNEY 31
The Silver Hawks went on a 22-7 third quarter run to pull away from the Bearcats. Emerson Barada and Illinois State commit Hannah Kelle combined for 17 of the 22 points in the quarter.
Southwest also went on a 19-8 run in the second quarter.
Kelle led all scorers with 11 points, while Barada added 10.
