Wes Dreamer scored 15 of his game-high 18 points in the second half as Lincoln East beat Grand Island 58-32 in the quarterfinal of the Heartland Athletic Conference boys basketball tournament Monday morning at Lincoln High's Earl Johnson Gym.

The Spartans (7-1) now play in the Wednesday 4:15pm semifinal against Kearney, who beat Lincoln Southeast on Saturday.

East had a 34-23 lead with 1:27 left in the 3rd quarter, after Much Biel basket pulled Grand Island to within 11.  Dreamer hit a three-pointer and Peyton Stoppel added another three to boost the Spartan lead to 40-23 at the end of the quarter.

Dreamer added another basket and a three-pointer to extend the East lead and never looked back.

The Spartans never trailed, jumping out to an 8-0 start before the Islanders cracked the scoreboard on a Biel basket with 5:23 left in the first quarter.  East then sparked a 12-0 run toward the end of the quarter and into the 2nd period, and led 18-4 with 6:28 left in the first half off of baskets from Chang Deng and Jett Janssen.

Grand Island (3-6) mounted an 8-0 run and cut the deficit to eight off of baskets from Biel, Noah Vahle and Ibrahim Karnouls.

Connor Riekenberg hit a three-pointer with five seconds left to give East a 23-12 halftime lead.

Biel led the Islanders in the loss with 10 points.
