Lincoln Pius X overcame a slow start Friday night at Aldrich Field, but managed to score 31 unanswered points in a 31-7 victory over Omaha Central in high school football.
The Thunderbolts overcame an early slow start, after the Eagles scored when quarterback Abraham Hoskins III found Donald Perry on an 89-yard scoring strike.
Ethan Schepers put Pius X on the board, with a 7-yard touchdown run in the early stages of the second quarter. Then senior quarterback Austin Jabonski capped a 74-yard drive with an 8-yard scoring strike, which saw the Thunderbolts take a 14-7 halftime lead.
Pius X (3-3) got a 21-yard field goal from Isaac Krings early in the second half, then Jablonski found Noah Unger for an 8-yard touchdown pass.
An early fourth quarter touchdown happened when Jablonski found Dominic Pelan from 25-yards out.
The win for Pius X snaps a two-game losing skid. A meeting with Lincoln Southeast is scheduled for next Thursday night, with both teams clamoring for one of the at-large spots in the post season.
