- BASEBALL: Prep Shows No Signs Of Slowing Down Against Pius X
By Jeff Motz
Top-ranked Omaha Creighton Prep showed how tough they are Thursday afternoon, when the Junior Jays came away with an 11-1 victory over Lincoln Pius X in high school baseball at Den Hartog Field.
The Junior Jays (7-1) also relied on great pitching from senior left-hander Dylan Phillips, who went four innings, allowed no runs, two hits and struck out seven Pius X batters.
Prep took charge in the top of the 2nd, when Noah Peyton and PJ Loucks eac connected on RBI singles.
In the fourth, though, the Junior Jays flat-out dominated. Five runs scored in the inning, including a two-run double from Evan Laney.
Pius X (3-2) scored their only run in the fifth, when Parker Swanson reached on a single and after the bases were loaded, he scored off a balk from Prep reliever Michael Sakowski.
In the sixth, the Junior Jays tacked on three more runs and added another in the seventh to seal the win.
Prep outhit Pius X 15-4 in the game.
