Millard South found some offensive boost in the second quarter of Thursday's Class A quarterfinal of the Girls State Basketball Tournament.
The Patriots counted on four three-pointers from Makenna Bray and her 14 points during a pivotal second quarter to earn a 69-48 win over Lincoln High at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
With a 19-13 game midway through the second quarter, Bray hit a three-pointer from the left side and after a Lincoln High turnover, Bray converted on another three-pointer for a 25-13 advantage.
Millard South grew its lead to 39-19 at halftime and 50-29 in the third quarter.
Lincoln High (16-10), fatigued and not quitting, kept pushing back, cutting the deficit to as much as 16 off three-point shots from Natayah Wilson, who scored a game-high 20 points.
Bailey Urban came through and rescued the Patriots, scoring 11 of her team-high 18 points in the second half. Jayme Horan, who left the game within the first minute of the third quarter, finished with 13 points for Millard South.
