- BASEBALL: Southeast Notches Another Win, Survives Scare From North Star

Lincoln Southeast withstood a challenge from Lincoln North Star Monday afternoon, but it came at an opportune time.
The Knights managed a two-out rally in the sixth inning and held on in the seventh for a 5-4 win over the Navigators in high school baseball at Sherman Field.
Southeast (11-6) won their seventh straight game and eighth in their last nine games.
Aidan Bennett connected on a two-out single in the bottom of the sixth, then advanced on a Brett Sheppard hit. Brian Meyer then delivered an RBI single to center and scored Bennett for a 5-3 lead.
North Star (8-15), who suffered their sixth loss in seven games, got a lead off hit in the top of the seventh from Sam Juracek. Then Gavyn Leitschuck walked and was thrown out on a force at second on a double-play attempt, while Kaden Barnes reached on a fielder's choice.
Leitschuck scored on a past ball from third before Luke Recker's blooper over to first and Braden Dey's fly out to center field to end the game.
Lefty Logan Van Treeck pitched six innings for Southeast to earn the win, allowing three runs and nine hits, while striking out six and walking one North Star batter. Van Treeck got help from his teammates in the bottom of the first, as Meyer singled and scored off a hit from Grant Roscoe.
Sam Colligan later reached on a fielder's choice, then Garrett Olson's two-run double scored Roscoe and Colligan for a 3-0 lead.
North Star rallied for two runs in the fourth when Chase Lauver's two-run single scored Dey and Wade Deist, who singled and walked respectively. Southeast countered with a run in the bottom half of the inning, when Jaxson Johnson reached on a walk and later scored off an single from Bennett.
Leitschuck, who went 2-for-3 with a strikeout and walk, singled and later scored to pull the Gators to within a run at 4-3 in the fifth. Recker and Dey each went 2-for-4 at the plate for North Star, with Dey getting an RBI.
Bennett led Southeast in hitting by going 2-for-3 with a run driven in and a run scored. Meyer went 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored for the Knights.
Chase Martin took the loss for North Star, by going five innings allowing four runs, five hits, recording two strikeouts and walking four Southeast batters.
