- CLASS B GIRLS BASKETBALL: Late Run Lifts Norris To State Final
By Jeff Motz
Norris found a way out of a jam and it paid off.
The Titans used a 9-0 run in the final three minutes of the Class B girls state basketball semifinal on Friday and held off Seward for a 46-39 victory at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Norris (19-6) will play South Sioux City in the Class B state championship Saturday at 1pm, which you can hear on LincolnPrepSports.com.
Friday's win came a week after the Titans got a 32-30 win in the B-4 district championship over Seward, which Anna Barent scored the winning shot.
Trailing 39-37 with three minutes left, Norris got a spark off one of two free throws from Rylie Bryant a minute later. After a jump ball off Bryant's second free throw that missed, the Titans maintained possession on the alternating arrow.
Maddy Ramsey then hit a jump shot, then 5-10 senior forward McKenna Sullivan got a steal and break away layup, which gave Norris 43-39 lead with 54 seconds left.
After a Seward offensive foul, Norris got a layup from Barent, followed by a free throw to seal the win.
Sullivan led all scorers with 15 points for Norris. Seward's 6-0 sophomore forward Camryn Opfer led the Bluejays with 14 points.
