- CLASS A GIRLS BASKETBALL: Rockets Blast Off, Avenge Loss To Bearcats

Lincoln Northeast used a balanced scoring attack benefiting from a quick start and rolled to a 54-35 win on Thursday afternoon in the first round of the Class A State Tournament.
Northeast will face Lincoln Southwest in Friday’s semifinal game at 7pm to have a chance to play for a state championship.
The Rockets (24-2) benefited from nine different scorers. The balanced scoring led to an attack that was unstoppable for the Bearcats. The Rocket defense was also on point forcing 19 turnovers.
Northeast led by 15 at halftime and continued to grow their lead to as many as 16. But with 4:40 left in the game Alexis Mischou drilled a three to cut the lead to 46-33. She proceeded to get the ball back but missed a one-and-one.
McKenna minter responded to push the lead to 58-33 with two of her 11 points. Nigeria Jones finished with a game-high 14 points. Mishou led Kearney with 12 and Mariah Rost finished with 11.
