By Kellan Heavican
Lincoln Southeast sent eight seniors out with a 46-32 win over Omaha Marian on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon at the Prasch Activities Building.
The Knights raced out to a 7-0 lead in the game before Omaha Marian responded with an 8-0 run themselves that was capped by Megan Anderson’s foul shot. Southeast responded by closing the first frame on a 4-0 run, leading 11-8.
In the second quarter, Senior Karsin Underwood scored 10 of her game-high 20 points to spark Southeast to a 21-16 advantage at half. LSE also used their defense to aid their offense. The Knights forced seven of the 25 total turnovers.
Underwood stretched the lead to 11 with 5:14 left in the game, which was the largest it had been. The Crusaders responded to cut the lead to eight at 40-32 thanks to three points from Andersen. However, the Knights ended the game on a 6-0 run.
Senior Alaetra Long added six points and Andersen led the Crusaders (9-12) with 10. Southeast finishes the regular season 15-8, winning 10 of their last 11 games, which included six straight wins to close out the 2017 regular season.
