WAVERLY---The Waverly Vikings used a 20 to 7 second quarter run to put them up by 25 at halftime by rolling to a 74-24 win during the final regular season game on Friday night.
Nebraska City (1-19) cut the Viking lead to seven midway thorugh the second quarter off of a Snezana Serafimoska three-pointer. However, Taylor Cockerill with five of her game-high 25 points to put the game out of reach.
The third quarter was no help to Nebraska City either. The Vikings (13-7) outscored the Pioneers 18-5 to push the lead to 54-21. Part of the offensive explosion led to a difficult full-court pressure that caused 27 Pioneer turnovers.
Twelve different Waverly players scored in the win. Clair Jones added eight and Addison Schneider aided 7, while Tessa Johnson added six late-fourth quarter points.
Nebraska City struggled on offense all night. Serafimoska finished with six. Allison Baker, Taelyn Allen and Patricia Trice all added four for the Pioneers.
