- BOYS BASKETBALL: Warriors Escape With Win Over Gators

Omaha Westside survived a wacky finish in boys basketball Friday evening at the Swamp beating Lincoln North Star 58-55.
With 8.6 seconds left to go, Westside had a 57-50 lead, which matched their largest of the game since 4:28 left in the third quarter. However, Westside’s Bennet Hellman fouled Andrius Jones who converted a three-point play to make it 57-53 with 5.5 seconds left.
On the ensuing inbounds, Ryan O’Neal fouled Caleb Osmond trying to vie for position to receive the inbounds pass. Caleb Osmond hit both foul shots to cut the lead to 57-55. North Star fouled Jadin Booth on the next inbounds and he only hit one shot to make it 58-57 with 5.1 seconds left.
Andrius Jones drove the length of the court but could not convert on his final shot. Jones did not have any first-half points, but finished with 11 for the Gators (2-16) Sam Juracek paced them with 13.
For Westside (5-13), Chase Thompson used 15 first-half points to aid his game-high 20. Jaden Kohls added 19. Before the late North Star rally over the last minute, the Warriors led by seven, hitting 7 of 8 foul shots to help them hold on.
