- FOOTBALL: Papio South Capitalizes On Lincoln High's Turnovers
By Kellan Heavican
Papillion LaVista South used six Lincoln High turnovers, including one in the latter stages of the third quarter told hold off the Links 34-27 Friday evening at Beechner Field.
Blake Mascarello recovered Links quarterback Jackson Mallory’s fumble in the late stages of the third quarter with a 20-20 score. The Titans (2-1) scored on one of their two pass plays of the game. Aidan Thuriin hit Jesse Glazebrook on a 13 yard pass play to take the lead.
The Links went three and out before Finest Hampton scored his second touchdown of the game on a 35 yard scamper with four minutes left. Lincoln High (0-3) answered in less than a minute when Zion Perry made a diving catch at the goal line from 14 yards out to pull the Links within seven.
Lincoln High ended the game with the ball but the comeback fell short as Nick Svoboda forced the sixth turnover when he intercepted Mallory to end the game.
Mallory threw for over 150 yards and three touchdowns and Titus Thompson scored on two of them. But the Titan run game amassed over 300 yards, grinding the Lincoln High comeback to a halt.
