- FOOTBALL: Big Plays Help Gators Over Rockets

Lincoln North Star used big plays early to capture momentum to beat Lincoln Northeast 34-24 Friday evening at Seacrest Field.
The Rockets (0-2) moved the ball at will in the first quarter and capped a 15-play 80-yard drive with a four yard touchdown run from Tivon Phillips. But on the ensuing kick off Navigator Caleb Osmond returned the kick 97 yards to tie the game.
The Natigator defense held strong in the second quarter forced a missed field goal, followed by a made field goal before taking the lead on a Brandon Yost 80 yard touchdown run.
North Star (1-1) capped the first half on a 13 yard touchdown reception from quarterback Gavyn Leitschuck to Tyrric Scott with :04 seconds left. North Star led the 21-10 at the half.
The Gators put six more on the board on the opening drive of the second half and held on for a 34-24 win. The Rockets outgained North Star 528 to 335.
