By Kellan Heavican
Lincoln Northeast cooled a red-hot shooting Millard North team Saturday evening at the Ed Johnson Gym in the A-6 District semi-final.
The Rockets outscored Millard North 20-7 in the final frame to come from behind and capture the 70-60 win, which sets up a rematch with Millard West from their first game of the season in Monday's 7pm district championship game at Millard West. The Wildcats won the season-opener 62-43.
Northeast starred at their largest deficit at 11 with 5:12 to go in the third quarter thanks to a Jake Lenagh basket.
The Rockets (15-9) only led for a combined five minutes and 17 seconds in the game before Trace Tupper scored to give the Rockets a 59-58 lead for good. After a Mustang turner over, Tyson Shadegg hit his only three to ignite the crowd and push the lead to four with just over two minutes to go.
Tupper finished with a game-high 21 points. Shadegg added 16, scoring 10 in the final frame. Freshman Malcolm Whitlow had 12 in the Northeast win. John Timmerman had 18 first half points before being allowed only 2 in the second half for Millard North (8-15).
