- BOYS BASKETBALL: Shadegg's 28 Boosts Rockets Over Bulldogs
By Jeff Motz
Tyson Shadegg managed to take control for the Lincoln Northeast boys basketball team early in Friday night's game with North Platte.
And it paid off quickly.
The 5-9 junior guard scored 15 of his game-high 28 points in the first half, 12 in the first quarter to help the Class A No. 9 Rockets to a 75-44 rout of the Bulldogs on Athletic Hall of Fame night at the Ed Johnson Gym.
Shadegg hit a three-pointer, hit a pair of free throws and a pair of transition baskets before nailing another three to help Northeast to a 19-11 lead, part of a 9-0 run heading into the second quarter.
The Rockets led 31-19 at the half before North Platte surged back in the third quarter, getting as close as 38-28 when Rashawn Bryant scored twice and Adam Engel added a basket.
Northeast (11-7) outscored North Platte 13-4 the rest of the third quarter and took a 51-32 lead. Eight players helped the Rockets score 24 points in the final quarter to seal the win.
Malcolm Whitlow added 11 points for Northeast. Bryant had a team-high 19 points for North Platte, who fell to 3-15 on the season.
