By Jeff Motz
Lincoln Northeast saw a commanding lead dwindle, only to recover in the fourth quarter and held on to beat Lincoln Southwest 63-51 Saturday night in girls basketball at The Nest.
The Rockets (9-6) got a boost from Erica Craig, who scored eight of her 16 points in the fourth quarter before fouling out. Craig hit shots from close range either off passes from the dribble-drive or off of offensive rebounds.
Nigeria Jones led Northeast with 21 points, including five three-pointers. The Rockets led 37-24 at the half before Southwest started the third quarter on a 9-0 run. Jones hit a three to stop the run and give Northeast a 40-33 with 4:56 left.
Southwest (8-8) continued to chip away getting to within 43-40 after three quarters, but Northeast spread out their offense and attacked the basket by using their quickness to pull away.
Maddie Kelle led the Silver Hawks with 19 points and Jaden Ferguson added 13 points in the loss.
