Lincoln Northeast improved to 7-6 as the Rockets outlasted the Omaha Central Eagles 72-56 Saturday afternoon at the Ed Johnson Gym.
Both teams combined for 27 turnovers in the contest, but Northeast’s Nigeria Jones scored 14 of her game high 26 points in the second half.
Omaha Central shot 18 free throws in the first half, but only converted 10 of them as they saw a quick two point lead disappear in the second quarter. Lincoln Northeast led by four at the break.
The Rocket’s outscored the Eagles 26 to 11 in the third quarter.
Yaasmyn Spivey led Central with 11 points and Arryian Williams contributed 9. The Eagles fell to 2-9 with the loss.
Northeast will host Omaha Burke on January 22 and then begin three-game road series to end February.
