10/23/2015 - FOOTBALL: Plattsmouth Stays Perfect To Win District Title Over Vikings

WAVERLY---The Plattsmouth Blue Devils used their strong running game amassing 343 yards on the ground to improve to 9-0 on the season with a 28-7 win over Waverly and claim the B-4 District Championship.

 

Waverly needed a win to put themselves into the playoffs.  The Vikings only mustered 161 yards in offense.  Junior Quarterback Dillon Ruelas went 9 of 23 for 153 yards and two interceptions.

 

Plattsmouth got out two a 14-0 lead over Waverly after Senior Quarterback Dawson Siemonsma threw to Kole Gray for a 28 yard touchdown.  He followed his strike with a 3 yard sneak to make it 14-0. The Blue Devils over came 14 penalties for 100 yards.

 

Waverly’s only score came with 31 seconds left in the half as Ruelas hit Austin Lowell for a 53-yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to 14-7.  But Ruelas never found his rhythm as he continued to miss open receivers all evening.

 

Plattsmouth qualifies for the 2015 Playoffs as Waverly’s season will come to an end.  The Vikings finished the season 5-4.
