12/19/2014 - BOYS BASKETBALL: Towery's 26 Boosts Lincoln High Past Southwest

Lincoln High senior center Jason Towery only had eight first half points, most of those were garbage buckets of missed shots.

The 6-5 Towery, though, became a force by scoring 18 of his game-high 26 points in the second half  to rally the Links to a 71-51 victory over Lincoln Southwest Friday night at the Earl Johnson Activities Building.

Lincoln High used an 18-5 run in the third quarter to pull ahead, led by Towery's nine points in that run and led 51-35 heading to the fourth quarter.  The Links found a way to execute, by pounding the ball inside and drive against the Silver Hawks' 2-3 zone.

Southwest (1-4) couldn't recover and was outscored 20-16 in the final period.  The Silver Hawks, though, were hanging with Lincoln High in the first half.  Seven of Javad Fatemi's nine points were during the second quarter run that helped Southwest rally from a 13-11 deficit to take a 29-26 halftime lead.

From there, Lincoln High didn't rely on solely shooting threes and went inside to Towery, who also grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds.

KeShawn Wilson added 13 points in the Lincoln High win, while forward Jamie Dixon had 14 points for the Links.

Southwest was led by Tyler Lenz, who came off the bench to lead the Silver Hawks with 14 points.  Bo Els added eight points and Davis Peterson, who scored 22 in the loss to Bellevue East, managed to get all four of his points in the final quarter.
