11/22/2014 - From The Press Box: Where have you been Jeff?
 I've been neglectful.

Nothing intentional, just there hasn't been much to talk about to write something up each week for "From The Press Box."

Well, that's not necessarily true.

The Norris Titans repeat as Class B state volleyball champions!  Congratulations to coach Christina Boesiger and her team for capturing gold, once again!

Other than that, the fall sports season came to an abrupt halt with early exits from the state football playoffs; North Star and Pius X defeated in the opening round of the state volleyball tournament, while Southeast advanced to the semifinals, only to lose to eventual state champion Omaha Marian.

Not attacking anyone, just there hasn't been much to discuss with the fall sports season, which will come to a close on Monday and Tuesday.  The State Football Championships will be played both days at Memorial Stadium.  For the second straight year, I won't be in the luxurious, West Stadium skybox calling the Class A or B championship games.  I was getting spoiled when Southeast and Norris made it in 2011 and 2012 respectively.

So, what have I been doing?  Relaxing, working, exercising (every day), preparing for basketball, snow blowing my driveway and the office parking lot.

My wife, Jami, runs Jami Lea Photography in the same office suite as the LincolnPrepSports.com headquarters.  She had a photo shoot last Sunday and called to let me know the parking lot had not been cleared.

Naturally, I thought that should be the landlord that has to deal with it.  The property is under new ownership as of October and no one had been lined up to clear out the lot.

Being a good husband and small business owner, I did my duty and loaded up my rebuilt 1979 Toro snow blower and cleared out the lot within an hour.  A lot of work, but I was filled with pride!

The day before, I spent several hours gripping the wheel traveling to Hastings and back to broadcast NWU football on KFOR.  Mother Nature didn't cooperate with me, either, by snowing during the game and covering up the yard markers.

Yep, I'm ready for basketball!

Speaking of basketball, our season previews for the Lincoln area schools will come out starting next Saturday.  Our first broadcast is Dec. 4 with Omaha Westside playing Lincoln Northeast in a boys match up at the Ed Johnson Gym.

The bus will be warmed up and ready to travel the long highway to Pinnacle Bank Arena in March!
