The Lincoln Pius X junior hit a grand slam over the right field fence that put a charge into the Thunderbolts and helped them earn a 12-0, five inning victory Friday evening in the B-2 District Baseball semifinal at Sherman Field.
Colton Abendroth reached on an infield single, while Sam Donlan single to left field and Brandon Utrup walked after Blair retired Michael Helman and Alex Utrup for two outs in the Pius X half of the first inning. Hakel's delivery over the right field fence put the 'Bolts up 4-0.
Nolan Walker singled next and advanced to second on an error. He then stole third and scored on another error, as Pius X took a 5-0 lead.
Cole Felber and Helman each singled and later scored on sacrifice bunts from Alex Utrup and Abendroth in the second inning. Hakel came through again in the Thunderbolt half of the third laying down a bunt single and later scoring on a Nolan Meyer single. Helman then singled in Meyer as Pius X led 9-0 heading to the fourth.
