- BOYS DISTRICT BASKETBALL: NORRIS RALLIES IN FINAL QUARTER TO BEAT NEBRASKA CITY
By Jeff Motz
In a night where the winds howled and snow sprinkled the pavement outside, the Norris boys basketball had gone just as cold as the weather.
But a 14-2 fourth quarter rally heated things up for the Titans as they earned a 65-57 victory over Nebraska City in the opening round of the B-1 Boys District Basketball tournament Saturday night at Lincoln North Star.
Jakson Reetz, who scored a team-high 20 points, led Norris (13-8) on the surge by hitting six big free throws to help put The Titans up 60-51 late in the game. Reetz also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.
Ahead 18-14 after the first quarter, Norris found themselves trying to crawl back into the game when Nebraska City (5-17) went on a 14-2 run of their own when 6-9 junior center Tanner Breazile and guard Jose Garcia started hitting shots. Breazile hit three, three-pointers in the game and scored a game-high 21 points, as the Pioneers led 35-30 at halftime before leading 49-47 after three.
AJ Flodman had 15 points to help Norris, while guard Jake Peterson added 11 points.
