FREMONT--McKenna Dodd hit some free throws down the stretch to keep Lincoln Southwest ahead, but missed a crucial one with 3.6 seconds left.

Fellow Silver Hawk and senior center Marysa Wilkinson saved the day by grabbing an offensive rebound and held on for a 55-53 win over Norfolk Tuesday in the Girls A-3 District Basketball semifinal at Fremont's Al Bahe Gymnasium.

The win puts Southwest (15-9) in the A-3 title game Thursday night against top-seed Fremont, who beat Lincoln High 80-44 in the earlier game.

Norfolk (12-12) got a boost from junior guard Jaycee Bradley, who connected on three trays and forced a tied game at 38 at the end of the third quarter.

Southwest's spark in the fourth quarter came from senior Abby Meader, who scored nine of her 13 points in the final frame, including three straight baskets to put the Silver Hawks up 47-42 with 4:03 remaining in the game.

Southwest edged Norfolk at the free throw line, with Dodd and Meader hitting three in the final minute to extend the lead to 54-50.  Tierra Wilson hit a three-pointer for Norfolk that pulled the Panthers to within one at 54-53 before Dodd hit one of two free throws to seal the win for Southwest.

The lead for the Silver Hawks was at 12-11 after the first quarter and the advantage grew to six when Dodd hit two straight three pointers for a 19-13 lead with 4:35 left before halftime.

Bradley's three free throws and a three-pointer from Erika Medel helped the Panthers outscore the Silver Hawks 6-2 in the final four minutes of the second quarter, but Southwest still led 21-20 at halftime.

Dodd added 13 points for Southwest, while Wilkinson finished with 12 points in the win.  Bradley led all scorers with 19 points for Norfolk.
