- BOYS BASKETBALL: Power's 23 Points Leads Christian Over Lutheran
By Jeff Motz
Just like on the football field, Logan Power delivered when Lincoln Christian needed a boost.
The same thing happened on the basketball court Friday night, as Power scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Crusaders to a 53-40 victory over Lincoln Lutheran.
An 18-point Christian lead was erased in the third quarter by Lutheran, who got an offensive boost on shots made by Bailey Bliss and Jacob Eley. Bliss' three pointer with 3:45 left in the game pulled the Warriors to within six at 40-34.
But Power took over and racked up six points in a 7-0 run when he scored on a layup to start the spurt. Leighton Chicoine hit a free throw and Power scored on back to back possessions, including a steal for another layup for a 49-36 lead with 1:47 left.
Credit for Christian's (4-0) early lead in the game came from their 1-3-1 zone defense, shutting down Lutheran's offense. The Crusaders went on a 12-0 lead to start the game and led 14-2 after the first quarter before taking a 22-7 halftime lead.
Chicoine added 11 points for Christian in the victory. Eley had 12 points and Bliss added 11 in the loss for Lutheran, now 0-4 on the year.
