Papillion-LaVista South came out with a gutsy fourth quarter performance in their boys basketball game with Lincoln Southeast Saturday night. The Titans overcame an 11 point deficit and hitting seven three-pointers in the final two quarters to beat the Knights 48-46 at the Prasch Activities Center.
Papio South trailed 44-42 halfway through the fourth quarter when Jake Schellenberger tied it up on an 18-foot jump shot. After a Derrius Vick basket for Southeast, Schellenberger hit a three to give the Titans a 47-46 edge with less than 2:00 left.
Southeast missed free-throws and second chance shots from close range. The Knights set up Vick to take the long-range shot with under 30 seconds, but he missed and quickly fouled Titan sharpshooter Jalen Hueser, who hit a free-throw with seven seconds left. Southeast's final shot from Cody Charlton missed as time wind down.
Hueser scored 21 points and hit four three-pointers in the game to lead Papio South.
Southeast (10-8) started the second half with a three-pointer from Dylan Dragoo and Charlton helped sprint the Knights to a 35-24 lead in the third quarter, before ending at 37-30 to start the fourth. Charlton scored 13 points in the loss for Southeast, while Dragoo finished with 10 points. Vick added eight points for Southeast.
