Lincoln----It's a homecoming football game that Lincoln High would like to forget about. The Links (2-6) failed to convert on 4th down opportunities and Fremont took advantage, by utilizing the ground game on their way to a 16-3 win Thursday night at Lincoln High's Pfeiff Field.
Lincoln High could not get their offense going on all cylinders, after their first drive stalled on a holding penalty. A 35-yard field goal attempt from Dylan Flinn was no good just before the end of the 1st quarter, when Fremont took over.
Tiger running back Sam Pimper, who ran the ball 20 times for 115 yards, and quarterback Trevor Strong capped off the 2nd Fremont drive, with Strong scoring from 6-yards out.
A short time later, a punt bounced off the shoulder pad of a Links player, that set up the second scoring run, a short 14-yard drive to the end zone capped off by a 1-yard touchdown run from Strong.
Lincoln High's only points of the game, came off of a 30-yard field goal from Flinn with 7:08 left in the 3rd quarter. But Fremont would keep themselves ahead of the Links, after Jordan Larson hit a 20-yard field goal early in the 4th quarter.
Fremont receiver Charlie Simmons finished with seven catches for 85 yards on the night.
