LINCOLN SOUTHWEST 34, KEARNEY 31: Sophomore kicker Austin Tompkins booted the game winner as time ran out to give Southwest a stunning 34-31 victory against 10th ranked Kearney on Friday before 3,100 fans at Seacrest Field. Southwest (3-2) denied Kearney the ball most of the second half. The Bearcats (3-2), who rolled up 187 yards on 25 plays in the first half, were restricted to 14 plays in the second half for a total of 69 yards. Southwest ran 34 plays for 291 yards in the second half. Quarterback Rylan Cotton ran for two touchdowns in the third quarter and finished with 101 yards rushing, and teammate Kyle Daniels amassed 211 yards on the ground.

FREMONT 21, LINCOLN NORTHEAST 6: Fremont's Charlie Simmons caught two touchdown passes Friday as they beat Lincoln Northeast 21-6. The victory snapped a 12-game losing streak for the Tigers. Fremont had been winless since defeating Omaha Northwest in its 2007 opener. Tyler Francis' 1-yard touchdown run with 7:10 left in the first quarter put Northeast ahead 6-0. Turnovers would hurt the Rockets the rest of the way. Francis was 12-for-22 passing for 162 yards but was intercepted once. The Rockets also lost three fumbles. Porter Groves rushed for 58 yards for Northeast.

NORFOLK 34, LINCOLN SOUTHEAST 30: Tyson McGill’s 5-yard run gave the Panthers a 34-30 win over Lincoln Southeast, capping a game in which the lead changed hands seven times. Southeast (1-4, 0-1) had taken the lead on a 10-yard pass from Connor Smith to Cornell Leffler with 4:44 to go in the game. Norfolk (2-3, 1-0) was led by quarterback Lance Lawson, who rushed 25 times for 184 yards and three touchdowns and threw for another 61 yards. Southeast’s Zach Taylor rushed for 120 yards on 17 carries and Dierre Alford ran for 97 yards on 16 carries.

LINCOLN PIUS X 26, OMAHA SKUTT 0: Adam Kerr had five tackles for loss that spearheaded a Lincoln Pius X defense that allowed Omaha Skutt just 64 yards of total offense, in a 26-0 victory against 10th-ranked Skutt on Friday before an overflow homecoming crowd. Pius X quarterback Derek Hartman finished with 73 yards rushing and 56 through the air on 6-of-12 passing. The Thunderbolts finished with 217 yards on the ground after a 3-yard total in the first quarter. It was the Thunderbolts’ first win against Skutt in the last six meetings.

WAVERLY 28, CRETE 8:  Waverly( 4-1) opened up the game and drove 75 yards in 11 plays and took a 7-0 lead after a 3-yard touchdown run by junior quarterback Tyler Evans.  Evans scored again off a bootleg on the first play from scrimmage and raced 76 yards untouched for another touchdown and a 14-0 lead.  The Vikings added two more touchdowns in the second quarter, on a 3-yard run by Jerod Henry and a 59-yard run by Nick Maguire. That gave Waverly a 28-0 halftime lead.  Waverly outyarded Crete 296-88 in the first half.  Evans rushed for 101 yards, Henry for 83, and Maguire and Jared Janssen for 67 apiece.  Crete fell to 3-2 and had a three-game win string snapped despite 127 rushing yards from Johnny Leach and 95 from Trevor Florendo.

SYRACUSE 40, LINCOLN LUTHERAN 7:
Quarterback Nick Reed tallied 143 all-purpose yards, had two interceptions and returned a punt for a touchdown — all in the first two quarters — to spark Syracuse to a 40-7 victory against Lincoln Lutheran at NWU’s Abel Stadium.  The Rockets were led by Andy Neels, who had 130 yards on 10 carries,  while Vogt ran for 72 yards and threw for another 137.
