- Rocket boys live up to number two rating
The Lincoln Northeast boys basketball team knew they had their work cut out for them heading into the season opener Friday night against Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln at the Ed Johnson Gym. But the Rockets managed to move the ball around and take the necessary shots and held off Abe Lincoln by the final of 61-41 to avenge a 87-72 loss to the Lynx last year in Council Bluffs. Danilo Pavicevic, a foreign exchange student, had all six of Northeast points in the first two minutes of the ballgame before getting into foul trouble early on. Andrew Bridger led all scorers with 14 points for the Rockets, while Meechie Johnson chipped in 12. Pavicevic and Mitch Raridon each finished with nine points for LNE. Mike Allmon and Eric Johnson each had ten points to pace A.L.
