(Lincoln)---After seeing record increases in website traffic and hits since October, Lincoln Prep Sports.com saw a total of 115,592 hits for the month of May that completely shattered previous records set in March 2006 and November 2005. Sports Director Jeff Motz says linking up with Lincoln's ESPN Radio station, 1480 KLMS, and the on-going self-promotion at game sites has helped contribute to the exposure of Lincoln Prep Sports.com. "We had just under 7,000 hits on May 8, which was the day we streamed the shortened Lincoln Southwest/Beatrice district baseball game. To me, that says there is a market to carry local high school baseball that no other medium will do," said Motz.
Aside from the record amount of hits, 43,536 of page impressions were recorded (equating to 1,400 impressions per day). Motz says he expects to see more turnout heading into the summer months, unlike last year. "Last summer was pretty dismal for visitors and hits. But with getting an early start on Legion Baseball coverage should be a provided spark to let everyone know we are at the games and provide in-depth play-by-play of each broadcast."
With the amount of hits in May alone, even higher expectations are on the horizon for football and basketball season next school year. "I really don't think it shouldn't be a huge problem to match or outshine what we set in May," said Motz. "To be honest with you, I could see more than 120,000 hits during each month of football season alone and even more for basketball."
