- NBDA Boys Coach and Player of the Year announced
LINCOLN-The Nebraska Basketball Development Association and the Nebraska Basketball Coaches Association announced Sunday the Coach of the Year and Player of the Year awards for the 2005-06 school year. Mark Watton, who guided David City Aquinas to the Class C-2 title last March is the NBDA/NBCA Coach of the Year while Matt Hill, a 6-foot-10 Texas recruit and Lincoln Southeast graduate, is the NBDA/NBCA Player of the Year. The awards are decided by a vote of the NBCA membership.
The NBDA also announced that Waid Vontz of Cambridge and Mitch Carstens of Grand Island have been selected as recipients of the fourth annual Dean and Patty Muhleisen Memorial Scholarship. Each student-athlete will receive a $500 scholarship. The annual awards were presented at the Bison-Runza Freshman State basketball tournament, being held this weekend at the Devaney Sports Center.
