From Lincoln Prep Sports.com staff
Waverly High School students packed the floor of their school gym as the Vikings upset Class B number three ranked Seward off a 17-foot shot at the buzzer from Matt Krumm to prevail over the Bluejays 48-47 Friday night. Krumm, who finished the night with a game-high 21 points for Waverly, helped contribute to a 36-29 advantage in the third quarter before Seward rallied to take a one-point lead late in the ballgame.
Krumm's game-winning basket was set up when the junior rubbed off a screen from teammate Jay Martin and a lob pass from Andrew Harris. Both Martin and Harris each finished with eight points a piece. Seward's Tyler Weatherholt led the Bluejays with 18 points in the loss. Waverly has had a tough stretch of opponents this year, including losses to No. 1 Aurora, No. 2 Omaha Skutt, No. 6 Ralston and No. 7 Plattsmouth and have lost the last four contests by five points or less. The win for the Vikings could be a boost for upcoming games, including at Crete Saturday night and at home against Elkhorn next Friday night. The matchup with the Antlers and Vikings will air Live and On-Demand on Lincoln Prep Sports.com.
