Despite being outscored 19-13 in the fourth quarter, the Knights held on for the win. East was playing with a small bench load, due to suspensions related to an incident involving an Internet blog website, but had all five of their original starters on the floor. East's Matt Newman had 23 points in the loss, while Tyler McManaman contributed 17 points for the Spartans.
**Former Knight athletes Alex Gordon, Barrett Ruud and Jake Muhleisen were honored for their athletic accomplishments at Southeast and the University of Nebraska. All three were teammates on Southeast football and basketball teams before each focused on their own accord in different sports. Gordon became an All-American in baseball at Nebraska and now plays for the Kansas City Royals organization. Ruud was a standout on the gridiron for the Nebraska football team and now plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Muhleisen continued his basketball career at Nebraska and now is a graduate assistant coach at Creighton University.
