Super-Stater Andrew Bridger scored 40 points, including seven 3-pointers, as Lincoln Northeast defeated Lincoln East 76-60 Thursday night in the semifinals of the Heartland Conference Holiday tournament at Fremont. Bridger's performance ranks as second best in Northeast history, behind Jerry Motz' 57 point performance against South Sioux City in 1964 that still stands as a Class A single game scoring record. Wendell Faines added 15 points in the Northeast win, while Kent Urban finished with 10 points for the Rockets.
Three East players scored in double figures, led by center Matt Newman with 18 points. Fellow Spartans Jim Ebke and Tyler McManaman finished with 16 and 14 points respectively.
