- CLASS C1 BOYS STATE BASKETBALL: WAHOO TOO MUCH FOR LINCOLN CHRISTIAN

The patented Wahoo 1-3-1 zone reared it's ugly head Thursday afternoon at Pershing Center.
With it, came forced turnovers and points in transition as the top-ranked Warriors stayed undefeated and held off Lincoln Christian 55-35 in the first round of the NSAA Class C1 boys state basketball tournament.
Wahoo (27-0) got off to a 7-0 start behind a three-pointer from Brook Stuart and baskets from Ben Scheef and Tyler Kavan. As the 1-3-1 zone forced double teams on the Crusaders, the Warriors outscored Christian 16-5 to end the first quarter.
A 14-5 second quarter run extended the Wahoo lead to 37-10 at halftime. Lincoln Christian responded in the third quarter, outscoring the Warriors 17-12 behind 11 points from reserve forward Evan Mathers.
Wahoo slowly pulled away in the fourth, after Christian closed the gap to 51-33 with 3:44 left to play.
Abbott led Wahoo with a game-high 17 points, the only player in double figures for the Warriors.
