- BOYS BASKETBALL: Lincoln High Races Past Columbus

Considering simple, preventable mistakes were made, the Lincoln High boys basketball found a way to win against Columbus Friday night.
The Links started out on a 19-2 run and its deficit get as close eight points in the game to hold off the Discoverers 55-43 at the Earl Johnson Gym.
It wasn't easy for Lincoln High early, jumping out as much as 26-12 with 2:25 remaining in the first half. A series of turnovers didn't help the Links, but Columbus finished the first half on a 8-2 run and trailed 28-18.
What made Lincoln High really standout, was their defense.
Much of the game was spent in a full-court press, but Lincoln High got help inside on offense. Josh Henderson camped out close to the basket and scored 17 points for the Links.
KeShawn Wilson and Kleefha Muhammad each scored 12 points for Lincoln High.
Jason Towery, Lincoln High's top scorer, scored only nine points. Coming into Friday, Towery was shooting 58%, second in the Heartland athletic conference. He's among the scoring elite in the HAC, averaging 12 points a game as a sophomore.
Columbus (4-16) was led by Nate Ek's 12 points.
