Key shots at the right time and two extra overtime periods helped Lincoln Southwest to an important intra-city win.
The Silver Hawks got a clutch three from Reid Williams in the second overtime to help them in a 56-51, double overtime victory over Lincoln North Star on Saturday at Southwest.
Williams came through by hitting a running shot in the lane for a 48-46 Southwest lead. After Connor Musiel hit a three-pointer to give North Star (2-3) a one-point lead, Easton Edmund drove to the basket to give the Silver Hawks (4-2) a one-point advantage.
Musiel hit two free throws to give the Gators a 51-50 lead. Williams then sank a three-pointer with a minute to go in the second overtime to give Southwest at 53-51 advantage. Gunnar Peterson went one of three from the free throw line in the final minute and Edmund got a steal and layup to secure the Silver Hawk victory.
Williams led Southwest with 18 points, while Edmund finished with 14 points. Peterson had a double-double for the Silver Hawks with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Musiel led North Star with 17 points and Noah Housh added 13 in the Gator loss.
