01/14/2011 - BOYS BASKETBALL: Panthers Break the Links

By Wade Hilligoss

Lincoln Prep

Norfolk junior point guard Jalen Bradley has flirted with the big 3-0 a few times this season, but thanks to sharp shooting from the free throw line, he finally scored 30 point in a 71-62 over Lincoln High at the Earl Johnson Gymnasium.

The two teams both had aspirations of a state title run in 2011 but met Friday night moving in opposite directions. Norfolk (10-3) has now won seven of their last eight games. Meanwhile, Lincoln High (6-5) is 1-4 in their last five contests.

Links junior John Harris had 19 at halftime including a three pointer at the buzzer to give the red and black a 33-32 lead at the break.

But, it was free throw shooting that sealed the game for Norfolk. The Panthers shot 25-of-30 from the stripe while Lincoln High only managed 7-of-17.

Senior Garrett Johnson added eleven points and junior Alex Starkel added ten for Norfolk.

Harris led Lincoln High with 24 points. Junior Deondre White scored eleven and Demarius Lott added ten.
