- HAC Tourney Starts With a Bang
By Wade Hilligoss
The first half of the 2010 Heartland Athletic Conference Holiday Tournament began Tuesday afternoon with two totally different games.
First up, Lincoln Southwest (2-4) out-executed Lincoln Southeast (3-3) 44-39 in the 2 p.m. game. The Silverhawks had the tough task of stopping Darius Vick and they did so with impressive defense in the second half. The lead changed hands eleven times in the game, but Southwest managed a 10 point lead late in the 4th which ended up holding firm. Senior Ty Headley scored 16 points for Southwest as they move into the winner's bracket to face game two winner Lincoln High at 5:30 tomorrow.
The Links got to the winner's bracket a little easier than the Silverhawks. Lincoln High got 16 first half points from Demarius Lott, ten points from Deondre White and eleven players scored as they routed an over-matched Linclon Northeast squad 77-40.
Southeast and Northeast will play a loser's bracket game at 2 p.m. All games are at Lincoln High School's Earl Johnson Gym and all winner's bracket games can be heard on LincolnPrepSports.com.
