Derrius Vick and his Lincoln Southeast boys basketball teammates are one win away from making a state championship game appearance. But in their way is Omaha Central.
The Knights (20-3) shined in their quarterfinal matchup with Millard South Thursday night by sprinting out to a 67-47 win over the Patriots at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
Southeast faces Central in Friday's 8:45pm Class A semifinal, after the Eagles eliminated Lincoln High 71-44 Thursday night.
Vick poured in a game high 21 points on 6 of 10 shooting and had three assists while trying to keep the Knights out of dangerous waters. Teammate Jaydee Jurgensen added 19 points on 5 of 7 shots.
But Millard South (12-12) cut down the Southeast lead by going on a 15-0 run from the final 1:30 of the third quarter until 6:22 left in the game, trailing 57-45. The Knights turned the table in the final six minutes of the game by outscoring the Patriots 10-2 the rest of the game.
Southeast hit 22 of 25 free throws in the game.
