The Lincoln High boys basketball team did some quick soul searching in the third quarter against Kearney Friday night.  That's when all five seniors on the team stepped up to the challenge and rallied the Class A fifth-ranked Links to a 69-50 win over the Bearcats before an estimated crowd of 1,000 at Earl Johnson Gym.

With Kearney taking their first lead at 40-39 with 1:50 left in the third quarter, Lincoln High started a 30-10 run to end the game with Tobin Reinwald scoring on a layup.  The 6-4 senior led the Links with 18 points, 10 of which came in the first quarter.

On the following Bearcat possession, Reinwald got a steal and found Tommy Johnson on a fastbreak for another basket to give the Links a 43-40 to end the quarter.

Lincoln High went inside to 6-7 senior center Dylan Flinn, who scored eight of his 16 points in the fourth quarter.  The other seniors, 6-4 forward Vince Smail and 5-9 guard Hunter Hendricks, also contributed in the fourth quarter.  Smail hit a basket from close range halfway through the final quarter and finished with eight points and six rebounds.  Hendricks, a reserve, capped the game by hitting a three-pointer with 10 seconds left.

Kearney (11-10) bounced back from a 25-11 first quarter deficit and went on a 6-0 run to start the second quarter behind center Tyler Shields.  He finished the game with a game-high 27 points and 11 rebounds for the Bearcats.  Shields had 18 points at halftime.

Trey Nygren and Zach Albrecht each added eight points in the Kearney loss.
