Lincoln----The frigid temperatures didn't cool off Norfolk's Brady Lollman Saturday night. The 6-2 junior scored 12 of his game high 24 points in the 1st quarter to boost the Panthers (3-2) to a 58-32 win over Lincoln Northeast at the Ed Johnson Gym.
Lollman's 12 points were part of a 19-10 Norfolk lead after the 1st quarter, when the Panthers broke a 4-4 tie and finished on a 15-6 run. Shots were not falling for Northeast (3-2). Most of the shots they took from the perimeter were wide-open and just simply didn't fall through. Senior postmen Dol Kutey and Sunday Wur worked hard near the basket, helping the Rockets score inside when they couldn't hit from outside. Kutey had 8 points of his team-high 12 points in the 1st half.
But as Northeast struggled, Norfolk got rolling. Jonah Bradley hit three three-pointers to spark the Panthers in the 2nd quarter and helped them to a 31-18 lead at halftime.
Norfolk got red hot early in the 3rd quarter, starting out on a 17-2 run off of hot shooting from Lollman, Garrett Johnson and postman Nathan Marsh while on their way to a 51-26 lead heading to the 4th quarter.
The final frame didn't prove to be much of a game, as both teams combined to score 13 points in the whole quarter. Northeast now gets ready to play Lincoln Southeast in the first game of the Heartland Conference Tournament December 29th at Lincoln North Star.
