Lincoln—Both teams had trouble scoring the first three
quarters of the game. At halftime, (9-3) #10 Grand
Island lead 15-13. Lincoln Northeast (4-7) made some
halftime adjustments, and went to a 2/3 zone defense.
The zone defense seemed to take the Islanders out of
their game. Northeast went with their inside game,
and never looked back in the 2nd half. The Rockets,
after scoring only 25 points the first three quarters,
scored 26 points all in the 4th quarter to beat Grand
Island 51-41.

A notable scratch from the game, Dol Kutey a 6'5
junior for the Rockets. The junior averaging 16
points a game was missed until senior center Jesse
Grant had a game high 19 points. Jordan Burt had 8
points and Elijah Craig paced the Rockets with 7
points.

Grand Island seemed to have the game right where they
wanted it for the early stages of the 1st quarter.
Grand Island couldn’t get any offensive production
from their big three-point threat, Sam Carstens.
Carstens only with 2 points, as Slade Bolles lead the
way for the Islanders with 13 points. Jory Crouch had
10 points, Kash Kalkowski and Pete Kropp added 8
points for the Islanders. Grand Island will travel to
Kearney tonight to face the Bearcats. Lincoln
Northeast will face Lincoln High on Thursday.
