- Sterling boys have huge 4th quarter against College View

Lincoln---It was a basketball game that the Sterling Jets had control of, but not total control until the final quarter. The Jets surged behind the long-range shooting of Jake Saathoff and Brandon Nieveen to beat College View Academy 41-28, in the semi-finals of the Parkview Christian Holiday Basketball Tournament Thursday.
Sterling trailed 22-20 after three quarters when the Eagles outscored the Jets 8-2 in the 3rd period. Nieveen hit a three right off the bat in the 4th quarter, then Saathoff answered with a couple of baskets, then a few possessions later Nieveen hit two more threes to expand the lead further away from the Eagles through a 21-6 run.
The Jets led 10-4 after the first quarter, but College View outscored Sterling 10-8 to pull within four at halftime, 18-14. Ben Origas led the Eagles in scoring with 8 points. Sterling was led by Zach Lempka, who scored 12 of his 14 points in the first half. Saathoff added 10 for the Jets, while Nieveen finished with 9 points, all coming in the 4th quarter. Sterling now faces the Lincoln Lutheran JV in the tourney championship Friday at 5pm.
Sterling Girls 44, Parkview Christian 29
The Lady Jets took command early in the game, leading 12-4 after one and 23-8 at halftime enroute to a win in the Parkview Christian Holiday Tournament Thursday. Kaylee Agena led Sterling with 12 points. The Patriots managed to come back in the 3rd quarter behind Breanna Borrenpohl's performance to narrow the lead down to 11. Borrenpohl led all scorers with 17 points. Sterling faces Freeman JV for the tourney title Friday at 3:30pm.
Lincoln Lutheran JV 62, Parkview Christian 53
Isaiah Bockelman and Conner Shelton led the Warriors with 15 points each to beat the Patriots on their home floor Thursday in the Parkview Holiday Tourney. Bockelman hit a last second three-pointer as the buzzer sounded right before halftime to extend the Lutheran lead to 35-21. Jordan Tyrance scored 11 of his 19 points in the first half for Parkview, while Caleb Branding added 12 points in the Patriot loss.
