Lincoln---It was a basketball game that the Sterling Jets had control of, but not total control until the final quarter.  The Jets surged behind the long-range shooting of Jake Saathoff and Brandon Nieveen to beat College View Academy 41-28, in the semi-finals of the Parkview Christian Holiday Basketball Tournament Thursday.

Sterling trailed 22-20 after three quarters when the Eagles outscored the Jets 8-2 in the 3rd period.  Nieveen hit a three right off the bat in the 4th quarter, then Saathoff answered with a couple of baskets, then a few possessions later Nieveen hit two more threes to expand the lead further away from the Eagles through a 21-6 run.

The Jets led 10-4 after the first quarter, but College View outscored Sterling 10-8 to pull within four at halftime, 18-14.  Ben Origas led the Eagles in scoring with 8 points.  Sterling was led by Zach Lempka, who scored 12 of his 14 points in the first half.  Saathoff added 10 for the Jets, while Nieveen finished with 9 points, all coming in the 4th quarter.  Sterling now faces the Lincoln Lutheran JV in the tourney championship Friday at 5pm.
